Religious Statues by E. Carrara & Sons

We are a family run business with over 100 years of experience creating hand crafted plaster and fibreglass religious statues.

Enrico Carrara Senior left the cobbled streets of Lucca, Italy in 1880 with his sights set on the port town of Liverpool. With a thirst for running his own business, Enrico set up E. Carrara & Sons in 1922. Producers of hand cast and beautifully painted religious statues. Around 20 years later, the business had flourished and was soon a family affair, with his 4 sons and daughter joining him in the day to day runnings.

Enrico died in 1947 leaving the business to his family. His son, Enrico junior took an active role in running the family business and eventually welcomed on board his own children Dorothy and Peter in the 1960’s. As the years passed and the business grew, so did the family. Flash forward to 2019 and Dorothy still keeps a watchful eye over her daughters Karen and Adele, and grandson Liam.

The business has grown from strength to strength and now supplies churches, schools and homes across the UK, Europe and beyond. All casting, painting and finishing is still done in house by the family at the studio in Liverpool. To this day, so much care, time and love still goes into every hand crafted statue.
